    Antique Hand Forged Iron Fireplace Adjustable Trammel with 20 Different Length Settings.
    A Hearth Trammel was a tool used for cooking and heating.  It has adjustable pothook that was used to hang cooking pots over the fire at different heights from the crane. The cook could adjust and lock the trammel into different lengths.  This allowed the pot to hang at various distance from the fire, and controlling the temperature of the cooking food.
    This trammel has wide turned curled ends.
    It is a very cool old piece of history.
    It is heavy duty, so weight of object is no factor.  It measures 77" inches at longest and 45" inches long set at shortest length. Please review all pictures as they are also an important part of my description and ask any questions.
