    Description

    Beautiful Dietzgen 1752 Long-Scale Wooden Mannheim Slide Rule. Barely Used. Hard to find.  Excellent Condition!  Superb craftsmanship.
    Barely used, almost new condition.
    This slide rule is an beautiful piece of engineering.  It is a superb example of craftsmanship, and has a wonderful feeling in the hand.  It was probably manufactured in the first half of the twentieth century. The scales are 50 cm long, the stator is 52.5 cm, and the slide is 53.5 cm.  Its greater length gives it higher precision.  Although we are not experts on such things, its manufacture appears to comprise celluloid scales on a mahogany stock.
    The scales are K A // B CI C // D.  On the reverse of the slide are S L T.  Interestingly, the S scale relates to the A and B scales, while the T scale relates to the C and D scales, and the L scale relates to the CI scale.  The S and T scales are denominated in degrees and minutes.  On the edges are "ruler" scales in inches and centimeters, not shown in the photos, completely clean and free of any ink markings -- as is the entire rule completely clean and free of ink markings, for that matter.
    The slide and cursor both move smoothly.  The long-scale Dietzgen 1752 is a wonderful example of slide rule craftsmanship.  The black leatherette case is included, and the case is also in excellent condition.  See photos.  The instructions have unfortunately been lost over the years.
