, which was based upon the famous play by Ben Teal and John P. Ritter, was released in 1917 by Selznick Pictures (Lewis J. Selznick Enterprises) and
directed by Clarence Brown
and stars Silent Era superstar Norma Talmadge in the title role of Poppy Destinn, a mistreated orphan.
The image features a dramatic interior long shot of Poppy (

) sitting up in her bed as she draws the covers around her in fear as an irate Luce Abinger (
Frederick Perry
) holds a vase above his head as if he is about to throw it at her in anger. This vintage original lobby card is unrestored in fine- condition with a 1 in. diagonal chip on the top right corner with a small area of paper loss along the edge beneath it; light signs of foxing along the right edge; and a 1 in. area of light wear on the top border near the left corner. The beautiful color tints are extremely fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading.
