    Description

This is a vintage original 11x14 in. US lobby card from the classic 1930's Pre-Code drama/romance,
    UNDER EIGHTEEN
, released in 1931 by Warner Bros. and directed by Archie Mayo. Based on the short story "Sky Life," by Frank Mitchell Dazey and Agnes Christine Johnston, a poor seamstress girl (Marian Marsh) sours on her engagement to a grocery deliveryman (Regis Toomey) after seeing her sister's abusive marriage. Trying to help her sister pay for a divorce lawyer, she turns to a rich playboy (Warren William) she met at work. The cast includes Anita Page, Norman Foster, Joyce Compton, J. Farrell MacDonald, Claire Dodd, Paul Porcasi, and Maude Eburne.
The image features an interior medium shot of beautiful fashion model Margie Evans (
    Marian Marsh
) as she covers herself from fellow employee
    François (
    Paul Porcasi
), as he holds a fur coat for her to put on. The border artwork at the right features a great full-length shot of Marian Marsh wearing a tight-fitting white dress with an exposed back as she looks over her shoulder at the viewer. This vintage original lobby card is unrestored in very fine- condition with a 0.75 in. light crease and signs of wear on the top left corner and the same-sized crease on the top right corner. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, or other flaws and the color tints are fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading. This is a great Pre-Code image from a really fun Pre-Code film.
    Provenance:
The Collection of Michael R. Hawks
. Mr. Hawks is one of the world's foremost private collectors of lobby cards and has published several books on his collection.
The ,000 for the fur coat would equate to almost 3,000 in 2017. The short films
    Hotter Than Haiti
    (1931) and
    The Ugly Duckling
(1931) played in front of this film in many theaters during its original theatrical run.
